Japanese artist and our good friend Ippei Matsui's legendary Buddhadog T-Shirt gets a 2024 revamp, now in South Korea!
The story begins like this: Ippei Matsui became friends with a dog at a market in Taiwan, and was surprised by the dog sitting motionless for two hours, so he decided to draw the dog. After two years, the painting completed in 2021 was made into a t-shirt and risograph print in 2023 and sold in Japan, Korea, the United States, and Europe. It is said that Ippei Matsui, who visited Seoul in 2023, went far on Ttareungi (Rental bicycles in Korea. managed on the internet) and the system went down during the night due to radio interference. He walked in the middle of the night and accidentally arrived at the tunnel in front of Yongsan Electronics Market, but there was no one there. Inspired by that mood, a new story about the Buddha dog began, and this t-shirt was completed. The point this time is that the Buddha puppy travels like a dream based on Ippei Matsui's travel experiences in Seoul, rather than an actual space.
With the cooperation of South Korea's Park Daham, they sold the t-shirt for just two hours on the roadside of Seoul's Yongsan Electronics Shopping District, which is the subject of the actual painting.
