Adoringly intimate psychedelic daydreams from one of the stars of the fertile Japanese contemporary underground scene, Eddie Marcon.
For anyone who’s visited the store in the last (nearly) 5 years, there’s a 95% chance you’ve heard the music of Himeji’s Eddie Marcon, at least while Tom is in. Still pretty inexplicably unknown outside their native country, Eddie Marcon is the hybridisation of Eddie Corman - a DIY lifer who spent time in notorious psych group LSD March amongst others, and Jules Marcon. Both also have joined forces to play as Wasurerogusa with Aki Tsuyuko and Ippei Matsu of Natsu No Zenbu fame (ANF002). So credentials out of the way, Yahho No Potori is perhaps the ideal entry point to their music. Impossibly innocent, almost uncomfortably sentimental folk songs set within an atmosphere totally removed from your everyday. Eddie’s voice is truly spellbinding and so beautifully exposed that even the slightest shift into falsetto can get the hairs standing on end. Each piece feels unpredictably and takes an amble-like quality, like a single leaf caught in an autumn wind. Just so perfect and the highest recommendation for fans of naive-pop giants Maher Shalal Hash Baz and that revelatory Minna Miteru series and big love to Moopie / A Colourful Storm for diving into this world, now there’s no going back. Artwork by Ippei of Buddahdog fame too (Mint / New)
