Two fine pieces of fully transportive, all-engulfing, shimmering metallic overtones from renown furniture designer cum sonic-sculpturist Harry Bertoia, privately released via his own Sonambient series. Secured by the financial success of his popular diamond chair, Bertoia developed one of the most unique and ambitious home studios around, named The Barn, where he began sculpting and experimenting with vast metal rods that each produced a unique and complex set of overtones when played by hand or the wind. Mic'd up overhead and recorded to 1/4 inch tape, The Barn was a living, breathing sound sculpture that reacted to the natural elements, yielding different sets of fully-immersive, harmonically-mindboggling slabs of sound that have as much in common with harsher strains of industrial music as it does with more meditative new-age ambient or Tibetan singing bowl pieces. Entirely unique and a beautiful example of a true artist in their element. (Vinyl & Sleeve NM).
