Debut LP from Japanese duo Guernica on the incredible YEN records with '改造への躍動' (Kaizo hen no yakudo), a title I literally have no explanation for. You'd like to think it offers some sort of clarification as to the music within, because its pretty out-there, blending killer early 80s minimal electronics from YMO heavyweights Harumi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi with more dramatic, operatic vocal styles. Although the ambiguity is surely part of the fun, the obvious clash in the traditional and modern sort of reflects one of the main threads in Japanese society. Definitely one worth trying to decode.
