More Anne Gillis to deal with, not that we’re complaining.  Veteran Belgian sound artist Timo Van Luijk’s uses his excellent La Scie Dorée in reviving Gillis’ 1984 mind-mangler ‘Aha’ originally released on the Bordeaux label DMA2 but then pretty much buried ever since.

The timing feels great however, Gillis’ recent revival of sorts (undoubtable engineered by Japanese store Art Into Life) that thrust her work back into the spotlight of this tiny little corner of experimental music.  Whether in the early 80’s or present day, her crude tape concrete is as confronting as ever - a hack-sawn link between the prestigious world of the INA-GRM acousticatique and the black-clad worlds of industrial noise.  Disconcerting depth of field, vocal yelps, skewed electronics and collaged found sound is roughly splattered into something inexplicably absorbing and psychedelic.  But most importantly, it’s still very punk - much like the work of her late associate (and assumed friend) Ghédalia Tazartès, Anne Gillis is a true outsider that can’t be tamed.
