YMO don Sakamoto's 1980 (!) debut on Alfa Records with B-2 Unit.  Given what else was happeing with synth-pop at this time, this one STILL sounds modern and must have been considered wildly experimental for the time; delivering a fully-dubbed out proto-electro with surgical precision and entwined with a sense of Japanese reductionism.  Sakamoto's obvious affection and inspiration from the robotic grooves of Kraftwerk shine through on dangerously infecious 'Riot In Lagos' whilst the dub licks 'E3A' nod to Dennis Bovell's involvement.  All in all this one this one's pretty essential for any techno / electronic music freaks purely for its once in a lifetime visionary brilliance.  (NM/VG+ + printed inner)
