Another serving of South Manchester hardware slaughter from Michael J Blood and Rat Hearts’ BLOODHEART collaborative project, a self-titled 60 minute follow up to their already long gone RATBLOOD debut from just a few months back. Grounded heavily in both producers’ hard-schooling and admiration for US dance styles and their derivatives - both sides let off impulsive, white-knuckle rides thru Shake-styled fidgety / syncopated percussion, pacy, run-in-the-red rhythms and vaporised synth chords that owe as much to the more crooked, slightly-wrong end of Detroit techno (Dirty Dave P!!) as they do to the prolific, foil-headed Swedish freaks FRAK. But references aside, there’s an distinctly Mancunian / no-fucks-given sense of spontaneity throughout, exploiting whatever cheap equipment available to hand and turning the past 30 years of dance music history inside out and reassembling it into something unmistakably their own… Keep ‘em comin !!
