Rolling, precision-engineered, dub-soaked broken-beat mechanics from London’s sought-after Well Street imprint - the third (and for my money, strongest) in the label’s back catalogue.Who is Robert Fleck?A mystery, but they feel like the imprint’s secret weapon in solidifying their own advanced, very UK, dub-techno aesthetic.A-side gives tight, acutely crafted percussion on top of rolling waterbed dub-chords and bags of swing on ‘Echo Chamber’, followed by ‘Set Point’ that fine-tunes the previous elements into a tighter broken techno nip ’n tuck.Flip over for ‘Soft Focus’, a spacious, half-time expanse of sub-bass tremors and ricocheted chords, whilst Gasometric Run dives deeper for a hefty dollop of late-night dub-techno haze, inviting the obvious Rhythm & Sound / Deepchord comparisons but only to its credit.
