Booted off'a Discogs but not dead yet!!  Light Sounds Dark crew hands the reigns to Chicago stalwart and Nation Records head Melvin Oliphant who casts his rod into the deepest zones of obscure, unheard and impossible to obtain material for this youtube-playlist-of-your-dreams yet completely illegal and unlicensed compilation.  If you've ever had the privilege of witnessing one of Oliphant's notorious DJ sets or even delved into some of his recorded performances, you should be aware that few skirt the peripheries and join the dots between early industrial, minimal-wave and more traditional 'dance-music' with avant-garde sensibilities as well.  He's a true beast and master of this stuff, his compilation here doesn't disappoint; suffice to say aside from Mimaroglu I don't recognise a single artist here. The shame!  Or not, because Melvin's done the diggin' so you don't have to!  Highlights!  Many, namely Javier Hernando 'Luces De Sodio', this squirming, rubbery alien construction that's kinda like the Werkbund stuff but more BUOYANT, seemingly stripped from a Spanish 90's cassette that's never been sold.  Nice one.  Elsewhere, Canadian composer Truhlar contributes an interesting DIY concrete piece of clever tape manipulation to transform otherwise normal vocals into something downright CREEPY whilst aussie industrialists The Horse Is Sick find their cough-syrup cut-up 'Larynx' on there too.  Plenty more to go at too, all so, so good.  (MINT / NEW)
