One of the finest moments on an already seminal imprint, here the hugely innovative Detroit legend Shake channels the sound of the city along with his now-trademark esoteric production tricks; first off with the fierce breakbeat and sub-bass assault on the title cut, and gritted machine groove of 'Mindless Entertainment'. But it's the flip-side cut that blows my mind, with the industrial-tinged, stop/start madness of 'Day Of Reckoning'. The originality here is off the scale, it literally sounds like the Ford Motor production line with those clanging mechanical hammer blows and eerie chords billowing through the track echoing the city's cold, wind-swept winters. If your woofers on your speakers haven't blown yet from the bass onslaught, find the bleepy warehouse ripper 'My Name Is Binky' rounding off what for me, is THE Detroit EP for those in the know.
