Supreme Neue Deutsche Welle release with the self-titled debut from Palais Schaumburg. This one features the classic line up of Holger Hiller, Thomas Fehlmann (The Orb), Ralf Hertwig and Timo Blunck although interestingly would later go on to include Moritz Von Oswald of Basic Channel / Rhythm & sound so it's a must check for any techno head. Considered very avant-garde and left-field for the time, Palais Schaumburg's fidgety, repetitive drum patterns, quirky use of electronics and blend of traditional instruments is deadly, whilst David Cunningham's typically sparse production approach ensures this one sounds as fresh today as it did in '81. Very cool record and RIYL Mau Mau, Liquid Liquid ++ (VG++/VG+)).
