High-watermark display of dusty, overdriven lo-fi house / techno abstractions from Jochem Peteri under his much adored Newworldaquarium with his 2007 LP The Dead Bears. Anyone who's keep an eye on this website over the last year or so will have felt the full force of my NWAQ fanboy gush, but for good reason! Jochem's over-saturated, distorted grooves are completely addictive and (for me at least) have come to define an aesthetic within club-leaning music that has been done to DEATH. But none as well as this, heady, intoxicated loops that literally go nowhere, just circulating around the same idea, subtly shifting / morphing / drifting / free-floating in dubbed-out hyperspace with this gauzy haze mixed with morning after acid-trip clarity. Without getting into the tracks individually it's worth saying there's not a single piece of filler on this 2LP, and anyone who's had even the vaguest interest in house / techno in the last 20 years needs to at least give this one a run through. Untouchable. (Vinyl & Sleeve NM-).
