Shibayama’s roots stretch wayyy into the heart of Japanese Indie, having spent time in Tori Kudo’s Maher Shalal Hash Baz, Idiot O’Clock, Ché-SHIZU and the mighty Hallelujahs. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTheir honest and sentimental sound straddles the world of American psych-folk and lo-fi, neither underground or commercial - existing within their own home-bubble of wistful acoustic melodies and ephemeral moments of beauty. It’s music truly within its own world that’s never really (and unfairly) found a footing outside Japan but is deserving of wider attention. Highest recommendation for anyone who enjoyed the recentish Hallelujah’s RP, Yuzo Iwata, the previously mentioned Maher Shalal Hash Baz, Eddie Marcon and so many others.
