Deadly, Kevlar-piercing LinnDrum bombardment from US composer Mikel Rouse via his own Club Soda imprint with the fabled Quorum EP.  With all the key attributes of that very particular US strain of privately released ‘academic’ music - the minimalistic font and ambiguous picture on the photo giving no clues to the content of the record and lengthy prose on the mechanics or ‘thematic approach’ of the music on the reverse, Rouse spreads two 11 minute pieces of raw drum-machine programming across each side resulting in a bone-dry shelling of electronic percussion.  There’s an obvious ‘coldness’ or total lack of human feeling in the recordings, letting the machine do its job with increasing summation of percussive elements that create natural polyrhythms and their own sense of cadence, evoking a sorta Haitian voodoo drumming session but for emotionless robots.  UNREAL.. (NM/NM - limited deadstock).
