Surefire hall of fame Detroit techno classic from Juan Atkins, Thomas Fehlmann and Mortiz Von Osward on Metroplex. A landmark '93 release that would strengthen the Detroit - Berlin axis and leave solid foundations that continue to bear fruit to this day, it's typical mechanical funk from some of the very best. I feel most people here would instinctively go straight for the title cut here (which of course is a seminal example of how spluttering drum machines and glassy, heavily syncopated synth hits can be so addictive), but take time to check the lesser appreciated and more unassuming B2 hit 'Bassmental' - a frenetic assault that forms a nice natural bridge between techno and electro for them genre surfing DJs out there. Original press, sounds very heavy (swerve the recent slew of Metroplex reissues that are awful). (Vinyl + Sleeve VG+++.
