Second instalment to the triptych of EPs that make up Terre Thaemlitz's incredible and somewhat lesser appreciated Routes Not Roots LP under her K-S.H.E alias. There's a lot of love on this site for all Thaemitz related output, and whilst everything DJ Sprinkles gets the plaudits, the lesser-utilised K-S.H.E outlet seems to have been unfairly slept on. This one strips out two of the more dance-floor focused tracks from the highly jumbled full-length, both heavily politicised lefter-than-leftfield elongated cuts that definitely have the capacity to CLEAR the dance-floor and properly ruin the mood of any enthusiastic / optimistic club-goers (fools!); yet right time, right place, right crowd, etc etc.. NOTHING compares to these. 'Crosstown' especially - a messy assortment of jangling percussion and handclaps with perfectly attuned call and response synth work and that almighty, unfathomably deep bass-line keeping it all together. Idiosyncratic risk / reward DJ weapon of the highest calibre. (NM/NM).
