Absorbing consciousness-stream all-Lancastrain collaboration between primitive guitar specialist Jon Collin and the local Demdike Stare power duo.  With recordings bouncing back and forth between Stockholm (where ex-pat Collin has taken up residence) and Manchester, Jon’s sparse, strung-out guitar picks are dissected, manipulated and augmented into a fitting, free-flowing tribute to the lonely windswept Northern moors.  A seemingly unexpected cross-pollenation, but Demdike’s respectful, slight-of-hand dub mixing of Collin’s supremely honest, introverted blues guitar creates more than the sum of its parts, rendering and expanding sparse string plucks into fathomless soundscapes whilst maintaining the unique intimacy of the source material. (NM)
