So far, Gast is only known through a scattering of self-released CDRs and his discrete affiliation with Inga Copeland through an under-the-radar 12” and production credits on Hype William’s indomitable Black Is Beautiful LP. It’s this reclusive image that permeates Excerpts, beginning with the brooding drone of ‘Shanti-ites’, followed by the lysergic mechanics of ‘Infection’ and ‘Congress’ – an electrically charged yet desolate house cut with warm sub-bass rolls.
