Label: Poly-Art Records – PAR 4303 Series: Blow-Up – n° 3 Format: Vinyl, LP Country: France Released: 1984 Genre: Electronic Style: Abstract
Two pieces of extended, synesthetic electronics from Romanian NWW-listed experimentalist Costin Miereaun on his 1984 Jardins Oubliers LP privately released via the short-lived Poly-Art International imprint. The a-side is an extended voyage thru glistening, fairyland melodies - woozy, microtonal bliss dancing around yer dome! Flip-side extrapolates similar themes but is somewhat darker (magical fairy party is over!) but still utilises the majestic power of sustained tones and unusual harmonic relationships / overtones to deadly effect to induce + encourage profound hallucinatory auditory experiences. Assuming informed if not inspired by France’s (where Costin would later settle) influential electro-acoustic traditions a’la GRM, this one, whilst underpinned my complex academia, is still NICE to listen to. (Vinyl + Sleeve NM, with insert). ((N.B - if you're keen the other '84 Poly Arts releases are worth checking too)).
