Aymara musicians traditionally incorporate wind instruments, reed whistles, stringed instruments, and pipes for songs dedicated to animals or saints, or freeform chants. As farmers, the Aymara people’s floreo festival celebrates their herds. Qawashqar tracks presented here are in the form of chants. At the time of the album’s recording, only 47 Qawashqar people remained. Mapuche music features wind and percussion instruments to create sounds for Mapuche ritual and social life.
