Trapped in the fog!More groggy, world-weary dubb’d out techno dream-sequences from shop favourite DJ Trystero.We’ve been heavy craving more material from the Tokyo producer / DJ since the killer TTT debut High Speed Wind EP back in 2020 and last year’s slammin’, take-no-prisoners DJ mixtape for Cav Empt that still gets a play a week in the shop.The sound palette feels established now - untethered, heads-down, dub-wise post-club creations, heavily layered with a deep awareness of space.A1 lets off ricocheting percussion whilst the filter sweeps toggle between the light / dark, lurking in the shadows but setting the tone for the hypnotic, gauzy downtempo on A2.But the real pay off lands on the full B side, which patiently unfolds into its own detached atmosphere with a slo-motion thud and ticking percussion gradually building around squirming synth patterns and iridescent dub chords.It comes from an obvious position of reverence to Chain Reaction linage, NWAQ / Ross 154, Vladislav Delay / Porter Ricks +++ but there are advancements here within a world that is often shut off to outsiders - big, big one.(Mint / New)
