Frighteningly six years has elapsed since that Loidis EP, but it still really one of the few dance 12”s since that’s stood the test of time. One Day feels like an unadulterated direct expression of Leeds’ interests in dance music - millennium-era Svek 12”s, the thousand yard stare of Shinichi Atobe’s Chain Reaction EP, Maurizio's MØ6B, DJ Sprinkles’ deeper-than-deep club tracks or golden age Perlon. As such, these club music touch-points feel pretty well calibrated with our own.
Stretching out each of the 8 cuts way over the 7-min mark and beyond, Loidis settles into the groove and sets about fleshing out texture and mood. Effortlessly nonchalant and infectious, the lack of desire to make anything other than a really really solid club record is refreshing to say the least. Which when all said and done is what this collection really is. We’re not gonna run through each track individually, just dig out your freshest V-neck t-shirt and dive in. TIP!
