Most tracks are trance-inducing dub windows to the music's soul. Ocassionally the music sounds scary, wrapped round in pulsating tempos with intergalactical dub effects. It's hard to trace the originals (most of the songs are originals !), but to my knowledge 'Thunder Mix' is losely based a Scientist dub from the early 80s, versioning Don Carlos' 'Plantation'. The beat is mainly mid-tempo, except for the tracks 'Lowell and Nine\" and 'UK Steppers', where Ryan Moore speeds things up. L'Attesa came 14 years after in ’92 when CDs were more in vogue, coupled with Lynx’s unwavering dogma of only releasing 300 hand-painted copies cemented its eternal obscurity and kept it within the hands of private record collectors only. It’s a pity as its here where it feels the principles of minimalism are allowed to best flourish. Gentle rhythms unfold into ethereal space, linking up with flourishes of melody to form refined yet yearning atmospheres. Anyone with an interest in Italian minimal music will instantly recognise L’Attesa within the linage (and those who want to learn more I can’t recommend @TheHums fantastic article posted in 2016 enough) - the classical underpinning and repetition recalls Roberto Cacciapaglia’s epic ‘Sei Note In Logica’, whilst Vaccina’s side interest in ethnomusicology is expressed within the tabla notes and gamelan-like qualities throughout. But it’s the least obtuse record of Roberto Donnini’s cult Lynx Records catalogue - more linen trousers and sandals with jazz intentions, closer to the work of Spanish new-age outfit Orquesta De Las Nubes but unmistakably Italian.
